Welcome to Fetching Feathers the Kennel and thank you or taking interest in getting your dog trained with us! Below is a general breakdown of our training program and all that bird camp entails.
Our Kennel and facilities sit just 35 miles East of Denver Colorado, a straight shot down I-70 in Bennett. A healthy plot of 80 acres for your dog to learn and grow on, we have a beautiful spread of native grasses and yucca, rolling hills and a few creek/ditch bottoms to offer real life bird dog training. The kennel itself is a very nice indoor/outdoor kennel with 16 runs. Our building has both heat for the winter and AC for the summer, ensuring your dog is as comfortable as it can be while with us. Having drains that tie into our septic on both the inside kennels and outside, you won’t find a cleaner nicer smelling facility in the area. Taking pride in our cleanliest is important to us, as we feel its in direct correlation with the great health of all our kennel dogs.
12 Week Program:
Training the dogs for this length of time we can not only achieve the most broad spectrum of training steps but also achieve so much more retention and more of a “Finished Dog”. The 12 week program includes all field training, conditioning program as well as general obedience. When singing up for this program you can expect your dog to be collar conditioned correctly through recall, gun broke, steady to wing and for some of the more mature dogs to shot. You can also expect a strong foundation in retrieving as well as honoring and backing. Your dog will learn walk to heel and stop to heel, as well as place, kennel and wait commands. This program does also include cost of birds harvested while training as well as offering to feed your dog while with us. We feed Inukshuk out of Canada for reference.
Further more, we ask that local Colorado clients come visit on a bi weekly basis to work directly with myself and/or my trainers and your dog for an hour 1 on 1 session. In these sessions we will go over both obedience work as well as field and hunting based training. Allowing us to teach you the ways of Fetching Feathers, ensuring the easiest transition home with your newly refined gun dog. Our programs also includes bi weekly report cards, keeping our clients up to date with the progressions and hiccups we are experiencing along the way, as well as 2 weekly videos and or pictures of your dog at camp.
